Term – sustainable communities – required from LPI session Policy 22/24 19th May 09 The CNPA supports the Scottish Government National Outcome regarding sustainable places: “we live in well –designed, sustainable places where we are able to access the amenities and services we need”. Within this outcome the Government are committed to creating successful, sustainable communities across Scotland. To do this the Government will need to work in a broad partnership with developers, local authorities and local communities to deliver a range of economic, physical, social and environment improvements. The strategic objectives set out in the National Park Plan (Page 67) echo this need to address economic, physical, social and environment improvements to achieve successful sustainable communities. The National Park Plan therefore considers ‘Sustainable communities’ to mean a population level and mix that meets the current and future needs of its communities and businesses, focused around settlements where services, networks, expertise and experience support the population.
